The Liturgical Customary of the Church of the Advent, Boston
The Vidi Aquam and other Eastertide Variations to Solemn Mass

The Vidi Aquam is said or sung at all Sunday masses in Paschaltide.

The Paschal Candle resides in the centre of the choir through the Seventh Sunday of Easter. Servers, whether walking alone or in pairs, should always pass the candle with the left shoulder (i.e., on the right). Never split around the candle.

The Entrance Procession is as usual; the Mass begins with the Vidi Aquam as the Introit, immediately following the entrance hymn.

Immediately after ALL genuflect, MC gives holy water bucket to CEL and CEL sprinkles altar (center-left-right), then uses aspergillum to make sign of the cross on his own forehead before giving holy water to D and SD. When CEL turns to asperge choir and congregation, SD and D cross behind him and hold his cope; do not split around the Paschal Candle but move past it. At back of aisle D and SD swap places again to remain on CEL's right and left respectively (NB: CELs often run up and down aisle!).

MC, AA, Th, and TT remain in entrance lineup until SMs return from asperging congregation.

Returning from nave, SMs genuflect below the altar rail and CEL gives bucket to MC; SMs go up to reverence altar while MC and others retire to places.

The Easter Acclamation, Collect for Purity, and Summary of the Law follow as usual. Altar is censed during Gloria. The Customary is normal thereafter. CEL changes from cope to chasuble at Offertory.
